Charities Week
The sense of community across Chenderit School is unique and makes the school a special place to be. This week, I would like to commend all our charity week organisers for their leadership of our annual Charities Week and Extravaganza. They have been wonderful ambassadors for our school, and have succeeded in raising funds for the following charities:
- Young Minds
- Banbury Young Homelessness Project (BYHP)
- Harmless
Throughout the week, a variety of activities have taken place to raise money including a daily Christmas market, candy cane deliveries, the annual ‘Chenderit’s Got Talent’ show and biscuit decorating for Year 7. The team spirit across the school has extended to the staff as they have worked with the Sixth Form students to organise and participate in events such as lip sync battles and a teachers versus students basketball game. We have also
received many donations for the food bank to support local families across the area in both Banbury and Brackley, again showing the strong sense of community across the school and beyond. Thank you.
Today, students are wearing a Christmas jumper in return for a £1 donation to our charity collection and the school is looking and feeling festive. We shall all be watching the real highlight of the week this afternoon as the Sixth Form team delivers a live Extravaganza Show for the rest of our school to enjoy.
We thank our Sixth Form students in particular, for leading our end of year celebrations and we thank all those parents and students who donated food or funds in support of our charitable work.
Staffing news
We thank Mrs Coleman (SENDCO) and Dr Craddock (Science) for their services to Chenderit School and wish them well as they move on to new opportunities.
In January, our new SENDCO will be Mrs Nowell (Assistant Headteacher) and we shall welcome back Mrs Maffey, who re-joins our science team. Mr Lindsay will be Head of English and Miss McGee will be Deputy Head of English.
Finally, I would like to thank all parents, carers, students, staff and friends of Chenderit, for your continued support during 2022, a hugely successful year for us, and to wish you and your loved ones a restful Christmas and a New Year of good health, happiness and success.
