Chenderit School celebrates its Ofsted ‘good’ grading

The governors and staff of Chenderit School are celebrating a good grading from Ofsted inspectors following their one day short inspection on Wednesday 24th May 2017.

"We are delighted that the HMI and Ofsted inspector agreed with our own rigorous self-evaluations and that Chenderit continues to be a good school. To know that we have successfully addressed the areas for improvement identified in the last inspection report of 2013 and that the school continues to improve is reassuring. We are very grateful for the dedication and achievements of the school’s staff and students and for the support of many of our parents,” said Headteacher, Jane Cartwright.

The inspectors were particularly impressed with the school’s unwavering focus on high standards and the rigorous approach taken to monitoring the quality of teaching, learning and assessment, which is now consistent across the school.

The inspectors also commented on the school’s delightful pupils who are keen to learn and do their best in its calm and purposeful environment. Many pupils from Y7-10 and Y12 were interviewed and described Chenderit as a "close knit” and "friendly community” with plentiful opportunities to participate in extra-curricular activities, which develop their confidence. The vast majority of pupils also praised the school for how effectively bullying is dealt with on the rare occasions that this happens.

Mrs Cartwright stated: "I am pleased that our short inspection letter is so positive and provides us with a good platform from which to move forward. Staff at Chenderit are ambitious for the school and together we shall work tirelessly to improve further”.
